Meet Tom
As a therapist, empathy, authenticity, connection, and vulnerability are at the core of my work. I strive to honor my clients' stories, sit with them in pain and heartache, and journey to resolution by channeling strength, power, and resilience. I view clients as fellow travelers. I do not have the solutions or the answers. I can help you find your solutions and answers.
My approach to therapy weaves a client-centered and cognitive behavioral approach together, emphasizing genuineness, trust, warmth, and unconditional positive regard that fosters a strong therapeutic alliance. I also use psychodynamic and narrative therapy to honor your story and solution-focused methods to help you find resolutions to roadblocks.
I hold a master's degree in mental health and substance use disorder counseling from the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School and PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University. I am licensed as a professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and alcohol and drug counselor (LADC) in Minnesota. I am trained in trauma-informed care, treating substance use disorders, and working with various mental health conditions. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a sexual and gender identity-affirming therapist.
